DOG ATTACK...sort of

This evening Eva & Amariah walked to the Church to make a few copies for Sunday's Nursery lesson (Eva was "invited" to fill in for the teacher...one of us is usually in there anyway, so why not, right?).

When they returned Eva was a bit agitated (a little angry) and said they had to walk all the way to the park then home, because two dogs were loose and barking aggressively.

There was nobody at the Church to get the copies done, so a little later she went back-and the dogs came at her again aggressively. So when she got home she called Animal control...apparently 7pm is after hours for them too, and the calls aren't forwarded to anyone...so we called the POLICE.

After waiting 20-30 minutes (max) I got in our truck (with a camera :) and drove down to the dogs and they came out of the yard barking at me in the truck...see the photos? Well that's when the cop car pulled up behind me.

The police officer was talking on the phone and rolled down his window (as did I) and I heard him say "Oh, I see the problem now." as the larger dog started barking at him. He hung up the phone and hit his sirens (startling the dog of course) and I said it was my wife who called, he responded that it must have been Eva on the phone & that he'd contact the owners or get the Animal control truck.

So right now there are two police cars (one maybe the animal control truck) parked down the street...maybe the dogs weren't dangerous, but we don't know these dogs, and we've got little kids...feel free to risk you own kids with strange dogs, we'll pass on that little gamble.

Anyone know what happens when a dog bites you? According to someone I work with who was bit 10-11 months ago, your lip gets torn, you get a few stiches and then $40,000 from the home owners insurance of the dog's owner...I'm just saying...

Eva's garden boxes gave us some fresh vegetables last year and look to do the same this year. The green peppers and tomatoes are coming in nicely. Last year and the year before we collected some sun flowers from around the area and poured out the bird seed (which also had sunflower seeds) in an area near the boxes. As a result we've got our very own sunflower patch in the corner of our otherwise barren yard!
It's nearing the end of the month, and work (Progressive Insurance Claims-network/property damage) is doing what it always does...crunch time. Getting vehicles delivered, trying to get performance numbers up and get shops to hit targets, and reviewing estimates written by the guys on my team. Just a joy.

Tomorrow I should wrap up a fairly large estimate ($35,000) on an expensive vehicle that was involved in a wreck sometime last year. Just a friendly suggestion, if you're in the market for a new car, make sure it's parts are somewhat readily available. Or you may not see it for a long time while waiting for parts as they are shipped in from Europe.

Tonight I got some exercise and am now icing down my legs. I enjoy basketball night (Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday) and if I can stay healthy I may enjoy basketball a little more often (Wednesday night, Monday or Friday morning). The key will be to remember I'm doing it for the exercise, and not over do it and remain in a state of perpetual injury and pain...I've got enough pain without basketball adding to it.

Speaking of pain...I got an inner ear infection last week which has been triggering headaches and migraine (got to love that, right?). So besides the normal fog I live in, I had to content with constant vertigo...and the nausea that come with it.

Ah, life is good-

On another side note, I've finally got this beautiful fish to eat something other then live minnows or gold fish. After 4 and 1/2 months it's finally caught on that the dried shrimp it's tank mates love are edible. This may not sound too impressive, but believe you-me it's not easy to get these fish to go off live food (it's previous owner had it for 2 years I believe & it never touch anything but gold fish).

Dreams...

Some may hate it when others tell them about the dream they had last night, but hey, it's my blog and I'll tell what I want, when I want...and nay sayers can just pound sand.

The last few nights have been exceptional and a bit dark (as dreams go). Sunday night I dreamt I was part of an ER scene. The body on the table was filled with tiny holes (shotgun type shot) in the front and larger holes in the back & the doctors were trying to piece together everything in the middle.

The patient was shot and not doing well. During the dream I came to the conclusion (dream conclusion remember) that if my daughter asked me how people die, the only good (or true to my dreamself) answer I could give was: "People die in only one way. We die when our spirits no longer attach to our bodies, and some people are able to fight to hold on to the body a bit longer then others."

In the dream is seemed to make sense. Then I became the patient and had to try to put this idea into practice.

When I mentioned this dream to Eva she was a bit taken aback and asked if I had talked with Amariah in the past couple days about Amariah's dreams. No (I can talk about my dreams, but have difficultly focusing on others doing the same).

Eva said Amariah had dreamt I was shot as well...so we woke Amariah up and she said I was shot by a hunter's gun, like in bambi...alrighty then, my daughter has dark dreams about death and guns (anyone wonder which side of the gene-pool she gets that from? me neither).

Well, this morning I enjoyed a different dream, filled with ghosts and demons, possession and carnage...you know the run-of-the-mill kind of stuff (no gun shot wounds though).

Guess it serves me right for finally starting to read the scriptures again, huh? I'm off to work now, so good day to you.

Family

So it begins...

All who read this will quickly learn I like ellipsis...
If you are like me and like to skip around between various topics the ellipsis can become a dear friend (or crutch, if you want to be a pessimist, like that).

First posts can be awkward...so he's a photo of me and the kids (Tristan, Jonathan, and Amariah). We like cake (one of us more than the rest).
