Well, I am nothing if not consistent. I take would like to say I take the longer view on what consistent actually means. In the scheme of the word, I've written quite a bit on this blog-when compared to how much the entire population of the world (in the last 10,000 years) has written in blog form. I would have been considered ahead of my time 20 years ago.

Eva, Amariah, Tristan, Jon and myself moved from the valleys and mountains of Utah to the flat planes of North Texas (Mckinney/Frisco boarder to be precise) in June of 2009. My main goal was to experience fewer and less severe migraines. After 1 year in this area I am proud to say I suffer from fewer and less severe migraines and have not had any "pukers" last more then one 24 hour period since changing the scenery.

That is not to say the move was all fun and games. We had our trials and Eva insists that in the Priesthood blessing she received before the move repeatedly stated "sore trails and bleakness would come before the true blessing of the move are achieved...bleakness...trail...sore".

Just to catch everyone up to speed on some of the bleakness...the U-haul dolly we were using to tow the truck snapped in half and the skids separated from the wheels, but thankfully we were gradually slowing while going down hill when it happened and the truck did not become a 50 mph free range missing on the freeway. Eva developed "white spot syndrome" on her retinas. Tiny white scar tissue appears in bundles on the back of the eye, leading to a loss of vision...she can see, but not perfectly. The first day in our new home the cops arrived and advised us to not keep our dog in the backyard-she barks (while in a crate) and the neighbors were not pleased (she does very well when allowed to be free range in the garage). Amariah suffered from a bout of Bells palsy. Grandpa passed away. I sprained two toes on one foot, tearing ligaments and tendons...6 weeks with a odd shoe and no basketball qualified as a bleak trial to me.

That's it for now. Stay tuned for...well, let's face it staying tuned may result in my blog burning it's image into your computer monitor after months of no change, so staying tuned may not be the best choice. Take care folks.

Halloween good times, good times!

Let the Halloween fun begin! Camera-shy as always, Amariah hams it up, and Tristan grins from the background. Yeah, go a head and say it...DANG MY KIDS ARE CUTER THEN YOURS. It's ok, cause it's the truth.

Jonathan was there as well, just contained and content eating his cheerios in the high chair...little knuckle-head.

The pumpkin was SPOOOKIE!

Like most kids, the best smile is apparently the biggest with your eyes as wide open as they can be!

This year the Ward put on a 'trunk-or-treat' but not at the Church, as some other ward had reserved the parking lot...note to self, next year we should hit several wards trunk-or-treats & skip going house to house entirely...our trunk-or-treat was held in a barn, or rather a horse ring instead! Amariah, Tristan and myself set out and marched the half-mile to the barn, much of which Tristan 'ran' (don't tell him this, but he's slower runn'in then walking-but it's very funny to watch).

Naturally there were several horses on hand, in the field next to the barn, which we had to check out. Amariah named this horse 'Snowy', which was better then the name I expected 'Whitey'.

Here's the little pony...anyone else have an innate fear of ponies? It's like they're just waiting for the right moment to lunge and bit off fingers! Kind of a creepy thought, but hey that's me.

Once we arrived we were met by our neighbor who's under going chemo, or radition treatment for breast cancer. She had shaved half her head and put the rest up into a punk style mow-hawk. Her husband was likewise dressed as a punk...in times of stress it is often all we can do to keep our humors about us, right?

After the trunk or treat we hit 5-6 houses then went home through the rain, Tristan still running! Oh, and a city fire truck and ambulance were on site for...well I'm not sure why they were there, but they made for a decent backdrop for my pictures?

October 7, 2008...little damage to a finger

I like playing basketball.
I've twisted ankles, gotten shin-splints, and messed up a nerve in...my upper-back-thigh (anyone want to guess a more common name for this...region). Well last Tuesday night I knocked my finger sideways...and after almost a week of lots of knuckle pain I decided to get it checked out.

Mainly I didn't like the fact it was pointed to the right and had a lump on the side. Not too bad looking (if I say so myself) but not very functional.

Goodnews, it's not broken! The ligaments on one side are just torn. Which explains the angle. Less tension on the inside, more on the outside and the finger is pulled one way more than the other.

I've been told to ice it for another week and then start home therapy which will include me squeezing fist size pieces of foam and opening and closing my hand (exciting I know). For now I'm just glad nothing broke, cause it still hurts like a beast. Oh, yeah, I did call a foul on the play.

In this x-ray they made me push the finger with a marker...sadists.
